One Point of Coordination
Families, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and receiving facilities can communicate with one team about timing, access, arrival instructions, and other trip requirements.
Private-pay, non-emergency stretcher transportation is planned around each passenger’s needs, pickup conditions, destination access, and requested assistance.
Serving Northern Virginia, including Prince William County, Fairfax County, Alexandria, Manassas, Woodbridge, Springfield, and surrounding communities.
UniqueHands Non-Emergency Medical Transportation provides private-pay stretcher transportation services for individuals who need to travel in a lying-down position and whose transportation needs are appropriate for non-emergency service. We coordinate pre-arranged trips throughout Northern Virginia for medical appointments, facility transfers, hospital discharges, rehabilitation visits, and other approved transportation needs.
Every stretcher transportation request is different. Before scheduling, our team reviews important trip details such as the passenger’s transportation needs, pickup location, destination access, requested assistance, building conditions, and scheduling requirements. This individualized approach helps us determine whether the requested trip can be appropriately accommodated based on the information provided and current availability.
Our service supports families, care coordinators, healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers, assisted living communities, and other individuals arranging non-emergency stretcher transportation. Trips may include transportation to and from hospitals, outpatient procedures, follow-up appointments, rehabilitation or therapy visits, and other pre-arranged destinations when stretcher transport is appropriate for the passenger’s needs.
We serve communities across Northern Virginia, with transportation requests throughout Fairfax County and Prince William County, including areas such as Fairfax, Burke, Springfield, Centreville, Woodbridge, Dale City, Manassas, and nearby communities. Transportation beyond the immediate service area may also be considered with advance arrangements, depending on trip details, scheduling, and availability.
From the initial request through pickup and arrival, our goal is to provide clear communication and thoughtfully coordinated transportation. If you are arranging a trip for yourself, a family member, a patient, or a facility resident, contact UniqueHands to discuss the specific request and determine whether our stretcher or gurney transportation service is appropriate for the planned trip.
A Team You Can Trust
Arranging non-emergency stretcher transportation can feel stressful, especially when a passenger is leaving a hospital, traveling to a medical appointment, or moving between care settings. At UniqueHands Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, we focus on clear communication, careful trip planning, and respectful service from the first call through arrival.
Our team reviews each stretcher transportation request individually. We ask about the passenger’s needs, pickup conditions, destination access, timing, requested assistance, and any other details that may affect the trip. This helps us determine whether the transportation can be appropriately arranged based on the information provided, scheduling, and availability.
During the transportation process, our team works to keep passengers, families, facilities, and care coordinators informed. We understand that dependable communication matters when coordinating hospital discharges, rehabilitation visits, outpatient procedures, follow-up appointments, and other pre-arranged trips.

Stretcher Trip Coordination
Arranging a stretcher trip involves more than selecting a pickup time. Our team reviews the physical access, passenger transfer, vehicle setup, schedule, and receiving instructions before the reservation is confirmed.

Families, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and receiving facilities can communicate with one team about timing, access, arrival instructions, and other trip requirements.

We ask about stairs, elevators, hallways, doorways, room location, loading areas, and other conditions that may affect movement between the bed and the vehicle.

The vehicle, stretcher, securement equipment, and requested travel arrangement are prepared before dispatch based on the information confirmed during scheduling.

We confirm who will release the passenger, who will receive them, and what assistance is expected at each location so the handoff is understood before departure.
UniqueHands transports medically stable passengers and does not provide emergency response, continuous clinical monitoring, or medical treatment during the trip. Emergency or medically unstable situations require an ambulance or another appropriate medical provider.
Before the Driver Arrives
A few preparations can help the pickup begin on time and reduce last-minute confusion. The person arranging the trip should confirm that the passenger is ready, the pathway is accessible, and the receiving location is expecting the arrival.
Gather identification, discharge documents, clothing, mobility equipment, and essential personal items before the scheduled pickup time.
Remove loose rugs, furniture, boxes, or other obstacles from the room, hallway, doorway, elevator, and building exit whenever possible.
Make sure the destination knows the expected arrival time and that an authorized person will be available to receive the passenger.
Contact UniqueHands if the discharge time, passenger condition, room location, destination, access conditions, or requested assistance changes before departure.
